UN/CEFACT RECOMMENDATION No. 33

Moving towards the next UNECE Trade and Transport Facilitation Seminar... ("Capital Express" No. 02/2017)

Within the framework of the International Trade and Transport Week, on 1 June, 2017 Odessa (Ukraine) will host the 7th Annual UNECE Seminar on Trade and Transport Facilitation "National Single Window System and Data Harmonization in Ukraine", organized with the assistance of the UNECE, the Interagency Working Group on Trade and Logistics Facilitation and the Government of Ukraine. The representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, UNECE, WTO, UN/CEFACT, the International Port Community Association, and Ukrainian Sea Port Authority will discuss progress in the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement implementation in Ukraine, the creation of a national Single Window and the data harmonization.

It has been a tradition to analyze the experience of the previous period, the starting point of which is May last year to May this year, from one annual UNECE Seminar on Trade Facilitation to the next one, to understand the key directions for future development. It is important to move forwards non-stop. You can click on the "pause" button from time to time and look back to evaluate what has been done and determine your future prospects...

In the run-up to the Seventh UNECE Seminar on Trade and Transport Facilitation I would like to recall the most significant events that took place from May 2016 to May 2017 that contributed to the implementation of the Sixth Seminar's recommendations and ideas. The entry into force of the WTO TFA on February 22, 2017 was the defining event of that period.

Ukraine ratified the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement on November 4, 2015 in accordance with the Law of Ukraine No. 745-VIII "On Ratification of the Protocol on Amending the Marrakesh Agreement Establishing a World Trade Organization."

The continuity of the seminars provides an opportunity to analyze the key directions of development and helps us determine the further actions.
